THE PIED PIPER OF HAMLIN

Once upon a time in a country village there lived a mayor and council who made promises to the public, but every promise they made they broke. One cold winter morning a group of rats came through town. One of the township lady’s was concerned that the rats would bring disease and they didn’t want the children to get hurt or sick. The mayor said he would buy mouse traps but he never did. The council made promises to the public and always broke their promises. More rats came and again the mayor said he would buy rat traps but never did. A Pied Piper came along and made a deal with the mayor and council that he could get every single rat out of the village if they gave him 100 golden coins. The Piper played his magical flute and the mice followed him out of town and down the river. When the piper returned to the mayor for his payment he was only given 20 golden coins. The pied piper annoyed, played a new tune. This time it wasn’t rats who followed him but the town children. He led the children out of the village and to the mountain where a magic gateway opened. The Piper said to the children that the land they were going to was a place where promises were not broken. The mayor and the councilors realised to “Always stick to your promises and never break them.”
